Rent-to-own figures are prices advertised online by national rent-to-own chains for standard top-load washer and electric dryer pairs, checked September 18, 2026: Aaron's (Athens, GA store page) $118.79/mo with a 24-month term on its national page; Bestway $31.99–$33.99 per week; Buddy's $22.99/week washer plus $17.99/week dryer. Weekly prices converted to monthly at 52 weeks ÷ 12. Prices and terms vary by store and change often — check with the store.
Two years, two ways
- Rent-to-own at $118.79 a month for 24 months: about $2,850, and you own a washer and dryer at the end.
- Rent from us for the same 24 months: $130 + 23 × $70 = $1,740. Walk away any time after month 6. Every repair is on us.
- Buy a used set from us: $485 once, delivered and installed, 3-month warranty. You own it on day one.
So if the goal is to own, buying used costs about a sixth of the rent-to-own total. If the goal is to never pay for a repair, renting costs about $1,100 less over two years.
When rent-to-own does make sense
If you want a brand-new, specific model and need to spread the cost with no money down, rent-to-own does that — you just pay for it. Most chains offer an early-purchase or "same as cash" window (often 90 days to 6 months) that cuts the total a lot. If you go that route, use it.
